Where to Eat – Takeaway Edition – Pancake Tuesday Special – Kerb Foxrock

Feb 16, 2021

With restaurants and cafés closed for the foreseeable we had settled for a life of our usual takeaways and home cooked meals when something caught our eye. Our favourite neighbourhood restaurant Kerb in Foxrock, a 5-minute stroll from our Brighton Wood development, were making takeaway pancakes to celebrate Pancake Tuesday. Kerb is famous for their Kerb-babs (get it?) a take on modern Fusion middle eastern‍ food combining fresh, authentic flavours into healthy fulfilling kebabs amongst other menu items. Nothing says celebrating a pandemic pancake Tuesday like a tasty creation from Kerb!

Today Kerb offered wholemeal stacked pancakes topped off with berry compote, yogurt, cashew caramel & granola. We pre-ordered our pancakes an hour before arriving and they were ready to collect as soon as we got to the hatch at the restaurant front at the time we specified. We couldn’t leave without one of Kerb’s famous takeaway coffees either to accompany our pancakes.

Once home it was time to plate our pancakes up. The pancakes were kept warm in a cardboard takeaway box which also contained the toppings in three little pots and a generous portion of nutty granola. Once our stack was constructed it was time to tuck in! The wholemeal pancakes were the perfect amount of thickness and combined with the natural yoghurt and luxurious berry compote they were also perfectly moist. The blend of nuts and seeds in the granola provided some lovely texture to the dish which was a nice contrast to the soft and fluffy pancakes.

We had never heard of ‘cashew caramel’ before and we were very eager to try it out. The soft and smooth cashew was the perfect accompaniment to the dish. Like a light nut butter, it was very easy to eat but it certainly packed a punch in terms of fullness! Of course, this didn’t stop us from devouring the full plate.

All in all, Kerb’s pancakes were both filling and delicious and a dish we think they should consider adding to the menu permanently. If they do we will most certainly be back for more!
